एक बार अयोध्या, दो बार द्वारिका, तीन बार जा के त्रिवेणी में नहाओगे, चार बार चित्रकूट, नौ बार नासिक, बार बार जा के बदरीनाथ घूम आओगे, कोटि बार काशी, केदारनाथ, रामेश्वर गया, जगन्नाथपुरी , चाहे जहाँ जाओगे, होंगे प्रत्यक्ष दर्शन श्यामा श्याम के, वृंदावन सा कहीं आनँद नहीँ पाओगे,
वृंदावन की महिमा यह है कि यह पृथ्वी पर सबसे उत्तम और परम गुप्त स्थान माना जाता है, जहाँ भगवान श्री कृष्ण और राधा रानी की दिव्य लीलाएँ होती हैं। इसे "ब्रज का हृदय" कहा जाता है और यह श्री राधा जी का निज धाम है। यहां का कण-कण रसमय है और यह भक्तों को आध्यात्मिक सुख और मोक्ष प्रदान करने की शक्ति रखता है। वृंदावन की महिमा परम पवित्र स्थल: वृंदावन को पद्म पुराण में भगवान का साक्षात शरीर, पूर्ण ब्रह्म से संपर्क का स्थान और सुख का आश्रय बताया गया है। दिव्य लीलाओं का केंद्र: यह वह पावन भूमि है जहाँ भगवान श्री कृष्ण और राधा रानी ने अपनी दिव्य और मनमोहक लीलाएँ की हैं। रसिकों की राजधानी: इसे रसिकों की राजधानी कहा जाता है, जहाँ राजा श्यामसुंदर और महारानी श्री राधिका जी हैं। सभी धामों से श्रेष्ठ: इसे सभी धामों से ऊपर और सभी तीर्थों से श्रेष्ठ माना जाता है। निधिवन में नित्य विहार: माना जाता है कि निधिवन में श्री कृष्ण और राधा रानी आज भी रात में रासलीला करते हैं और विश्राम करते हैं। शक्तिशाली स्थान: जो व्यक्ति वृंदावन में वास करता है, उसमें धर्म, अर्थ, काम और मोक्ष प्रदान करने की सामर्थ्य आ जाती है, चाहे वह भोग-विलास की इच्छा रखता हो। नित्य आनंद का वास: वृंदावन असीम आनंद का निवास और रसिकों के लिए अनुकूल स्थान है। नित्य दर्शन का फल: यहाँ के दर्शन मात्र से सभी आध्यात्मिक इच्छाएं पूरी होती हैं।
यह कृष्ण की लीलास्थली है। हरिवंशपुराण, श्रीमद्भागवत, विष्णु पुराण आदि में वृन्दावन की महिमा का वर्णन किया गया है। कालिदास ने इसका उल्लेख रघुवंश में इंदुमती-स्वयंवर के प्रसंग में शूरसेनाधिपति सुषेण का परिचय देते हुए किया है।
श्रीमद्भागवत के अनुसार गोकुल से कंस के अत्याचार से बचने के लिए नंदजी कुटुंबियों और सजातीयों के साथ वृन्दावन में निवास के लिए आये थे। वर्तमान में टटिया स्थान, निधिवन, सेवाकुंज, मदनटेर, बिहारी जी की बगीची, लता भवन आदि आरक्षित वनों के रूप में दर्शनीय हैं।
